The Office of President Higgins invited 50 Rainbows volunteers to the Áras an Uachtaráin to honour and mark the work of Rainbows over the last 25 years. We had an unprecedented demand for the available places. A selection of volunteers from all over the country traveled to the Áras on Thursday 9th October 2014.
President Higgins praised the important work done by volunteers in Rainbows and talked about the importance of having grief acknowledged and supported for young people. He also highlighted the work of volunteers in Ireland.
The Rainbows group enjoyed afternoon tea at the Áras followed by a tour of the official rooms. There was great excitement and an afternoon of many happy memories.
