Rainbows Roles and Terms
Below is a list of all the Rainbows roles and terms. It can be helpful to read these terms before reading on about how to be come a programme centre or volunteer.
Centre: The agency/body/institution which applies to Rainbows Ireland to become an accredited centre to deliver Rainbows. The most common centres are Schools, Family Resource Centres, Diocesan Centres and Youth Projects.
Centre Management Body: The specific group of people charged with Governance of that Centre i.e. the Board of Management of a School/Management Board or Committee of a centre.
Centre Director: Is the name or term used being by us, in Rainbows Ireland, to describe the most senior staff member/employee appointed by and reporting to the Centre Management Body who oversee the business of that centre e.g. Principal/Deputy Principal of a school, Manager of an FRC.
Programme Coordinator: The trained volunteer, recruited by the Centre Director, acting on behalf of Programme Centre Management Body to organise and manage the operation of the Rainbows programme.
Deputy Programme Coordinator: The trained volunteer, recruited by the Programme Administrator, acting on behalf of Programme Centre Management Body to support the lead Coordinator to organise and manage the operation of the Rainbows programme.
Facilitator: The volunteer recruited by the Programme Centre Management Body to be trained to deliver the programme.
